CATEGORIES OF WORKERS

Depending on the type of activity you wish to carry out in Romania, you may be employed under one of the following categories:

⦿ Permanent worker – a foreign citizen employed in Romania under an individual employment contract, either fixed-term or indefinite, based on a work authorization;

⦿ Trainee worker – a foreign citizen holding a higher education diploma or currently pursuing higher education in a third country, employed under a work authorization to participate in a fixed-term internship program, aimed at improving professional training, acquiring qualifications, and enhancing linguistic and cultural knowledge;

⦿ Seasonal worker – a foreign citizen whose main residence is in a third country but temporarily resides in Romania to perform seasonal work under a fixed-term individual employment contract, based on a work authorization;

⦿ Cross-border worker – a foreign citizen from a country sharing a border with Romania who resides in the border area of that country, employed to work in a border locality in Romania under a fixed-term or indefinite individual employment contract;

⦿ Highly qualified worker – a foreign citizen employed to perform a highly qualified position under an individual employment contract of at least one year, based on a work authorization;

⦿ Posted worker – a foreign citizen who, while maintaining a valid employment contract with a company established in a third country, is temporarily posted to Romania to provide services to a beneficiary within the same company or corporate group;

⦿ ICT worker (intra-corporate transfer) – a foreign citizen residing in a third country at the time of application, being transferred within the same company or group of companies;

⦿ Au pair worker – a foreign citizen temporarily hosted by a host family in Romania to improve linguistic and cultural knowledge, in exchange for performing light domestic tasks and childcare duties.
